  The bikes were great. I’m rating my experience with the bike shop. I rented one for me and a couple of my older kids and the online process was pretty simple. Not customer service friendly. The hours are weird for anybody that wants to ride a bike earlier in the day and doesn’t want to drive in to pick up the bike the day before. I also wasn’t impressed with the older guy with tattoos. He just seemed mad at the world. We showed up 20 minutes early and I asked if I could look around and he asked me to stay outside because they weren’t opened yet. The younger man and boy was awesome and seemed eager to help. Beware of the “Kranky” old man.

  The owner seems kind of Kranky. 😔 Rented a Transition Spire, had a fun time. Was largely disappointed in my experience with the bike shop in particular. My bike was set up with 30 lb. too much air in the front fork, and the one trail, Renegade, which was recommended from the bike shop was literally the worst trail I've ever ridden on bike. Pineapple Express however, was amazing. Many of the trail systems here on Maui are closed currently. Which I understand will make it challenging for a bike shop. As a bike steward for the community, you can definitely do better. Seems like one of the best options here on Maui, but do your homework before you arrive.

  Rented two Giant TCRs for our Sea to Summit ride of Haleakala. Grueling tough ride and summited on great machines. Moose was great and we ended up getting a few pieces of nice apparel. Great shop and would recommend.

  They really made sure that my friend and I felt like we were inconveniencing them by using their rental services. Bikes are okay. My Transition sounded as if it was on its last legs whenever travel was needed but the NX shifter was dialed in which was appreciated on the climbs👌
  
  Knowledge on whether or not one of the most popular trails on the island is open or closed would have also been appreciated. The owner seemed genuinely surprised when we came back early from our Skyline ride on Haleakala because it was closed. Still had fun though but if I were to only do the road portion I would have rented a road bike. It’s ultimately upon the rider to find out riding conditions but after getting a good shake down on what to expect from the shop the evening prior, we had no other reason to think it was closed 🤙 Ride safe y’all.

  I rented a nice road bike from their Makawao location and had a wonderful experience, rode all around maui and Halaekala.
  The guys at the shop were very helpful and installed the pedals I wanted. I even had a mechanical which they fixed it with no extra charge. I would highly recommend Krank Cyles to anyone who is looking to rent a bike to explore Maui.
